Studio Gear Highlights
The Behringer X32 Mixing Console offers flexible routing, hands-on control, and pristine 32-channel digital mixing—perfect for both live capture and studio sessions. Paired with the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, a reliable 8 channel audio interface known for its clean preamps and low-latency performance, we ensure every detail of your sound is captured with clarity. All projects are tracked and mixed in Logic Pro X, Apple’s industry-standard DAW, providing a powerful and intuitive platform for music production, editing, and mastering.
Studio Drums & Isolation
The Big Stu is equipped with a Ludwig Element drum kit, delivering classic tone and solid build quality that suits a wide range of genres—from rock and pop to jazz and hip hop. Toms are mic’d with Audix D2 dynamic microphones, chosen for their punchy, focused response and reliability in studio settings. The kit features the Tama Iron Cobra 900 kick pedal, known for its speed, precision, and smooth action. Please provide your own cymbals. Drum tracking takes place in a custom-built DIY isolation room, designed to control reflections and bleed, allowing for clean recordings with professional separation and tone.
Guitar & Vocal Signal Chain
Our Orange 4x12 speaker cabinet delivers bold, rich tone with plenty of presence and definition—ideal for everything from clean rhythms to heavy leads. Paired with an Egnater tube amplifier, known for its dynamic response and tonal flexibility, this rig brings warmth and character to every performance. Guitars can be tracked with a classic Fender Stratocaster, offering signature clarity, expressiveness, and tonal range. For vocals, the sE Electronics V7 dynamic microphone captures crisp, detailed sound with excellent rejection—perfect for both live-style takes and controlled studio sessions.
Signal Flow & Engineering Expertise
At The Big Stu, clean signal flow and technical precision are top priorities. Our setup includes a Radial 2-Channel DI, trusted for its transparent tone and rock-solid reliability—ideal for capturing bass, keyboards, and guitars with clarity and punch. With over 10 years of audio engineering experience, every session benefits from deep knowledge of routing, gain staging, and studio workflow. From patching and reamping to complex multi-source tracking, sessions at The Big Stu are run with efficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to professional-quality results.
